Changes to Athens metro airport line as of November 1st | Greek City Times

Anyone traveling on the Athens Metro Line 3 going to or from Athens International Airport (AIA) will have to switch at the Doukissis Plakentias stop as of Thursday, November 1st.

Up to now, trains to and from the AIA travelled the full length of the line without a need to change trains.

Stasy said travellers who board in Athens stations will disembark at Plakentias and wait there for Metro trains going to the airport every half hour (at :25 and :55).

Conversely, travellers arriving at the AIA will take the Metro line departing on the hour and at half past (:00 and :30) to Plakentias, where they will switch the train to one heading to Agia Marina, every few minutes. There will be no change on platforms.

Passengers who want to use the urban railway line (Proastiakos) will have to switch platforms for that train.

Stasy said the purpose of the change is to add more runs to the Agia Marina-Plakentias section during heavy passenger traffic times.
