Eurail Adds Greek Islands Ferry Pass to New Offerings – GTP Headlines

Ferry passes covering trips to 52 Greek islands have been added this year to the European train pass system’s (Eurail) wide array of travel options available in 2019, as part of the company’s comprehensive makeover.

, Eurail Adds Greek Islands Ferry Pass to New Offerings – GTP HeadlinesEurail (formerly known as Eurorail) is now offering Greek island second-class-only passes covering either five trips in a month in Greece for 90 Euro, or six trips per month, including one round-trip between Greece and Italy at 175 Euro. The latter option is available in first class and includes cabin berth on the overnight trips to and from Italy.

Other changes to Eurail’s offerings include lower prices, new country inclusions, and new routes.

The new passes are still available through Eurail online, as well as via RailEurope and other vendors.

Starting this year:

  • Eurail Select passes have been discontinued, paving the way for the 31-country Global pass.
  • The Global pass is now cheaper and includes Eurostar travel to and from the London area. Other UK trains are not included.
  • The 31-country Global pass is now available in second class, as well as first.
  • Global passes are now available for shorter durations that include three-, five- and seven-day travel within a month.
  • Senior travelers over 60 get 10 percent discounts on Global and one-country passes.
  • Younger travelers (aged 12-27) are entitled to 27 percent discounts.
  • Passes can now be used on a number of smaller independent “open access” train lines.
