Three new Athens metro stations – at Agia Varvara, Nikaia and Korydallos – along the Airport-Agia Marina blue line are set to open this summer with the remaining extension to the Piraeus Municipal Theater to be completed in two years’ time, said Attiko Metro SA President Yannis Milopoulos.
Speaking to the Athens News Agency (ANA), Milopoulos said the three stations will be up and running this June, serving thousands of Western Piraeus residents.

Milopoulos added that he expects in the coming months to announce the contractor who will take on the construction of the first section of Metro Line 4 from Galatsi to Goudi.
The Agia Varvara, Platia Eleftherias-Korydallos, and Agios Nikolaos-Nikaia stations are set to open by June 30.
Referring to a station planned for the inner-city neighborhood of Exarcheia, Milopoulos said the station will be located on the square with exits along the side streets and on towards the National Archaeological Museum.
Milopoulos concluded that Attiko Metro SA will be launching a study to determine which other Athens districts and suburbs require stations.
